Senator Ted Kennedy, He Gave SO Much for Us

Senator Ted Kennedy passed away on Tuesday from Brain Cancer.

Ted Kennedy was always in the shadow of his older bothers, John and Robert, but he has left his mark on the world with the work he has done in the US Senate.

Kennedy has had a lot to do with almost every major Democratic and Bipartisan legislative initiative for the past 45 years and was undeniably one of the greatest champions of civil rights and health care reform this country has ever known. In retrospect, it is without a doubt that he is no longer eclipsed by the memory of his brothers.

The 1980 Americans With Disabilities Act, the 1965 Voting Rights Act, and the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 are just a few of the landmark pieces of legislation he was involved with. He had a helping hand in raising the minimum wage and expanding health care for children. The list is too long to even begin to post here.

Probably the greatest complement we could ever give Ted Kennedy, would be to press forward and turn his dream of Health Care Reform into reality.

Kennedy's accomplishments are many and the People of the United State should be thankful he was with us for so long.

AL Alcoholic Beverage Control Board bans Wine because of Label, Grow Up Guys!

I live in Alabama and I am ashamed of the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board for making such a to-do about a wine label on Cycles Gladiator wine, produced by Hahn Family Wines in Soledad. CA.

In 1895 the nude nymph with the winged bicycle was OK for selling bicycles but in 2008 that same picture is inappropriate for selling a bottle of wine in the state of Alabama.

The state tells the restaurants and stores not to sell the product because of the label.

Wake Up People!!! The last time I was in a restaurant I had to be 21 in order to order wine.

I believe that makes me an ADULT!

If Alabama does not want the children of the state to see such items, destroy all the Art Books, Science books, Televisions, Cell phones, Computers. Close all the Schools, Universities, Museums, Art Galleries. Go through everyone's homes and take away all the baby pictures we all have of ourselves or our children sitting in the tube nude or laying on a bed nude. Destroy all the art in peoples homes that may have a nude in it.

Censor a Wine Label! Please - How Ironic!

Alabama has one of the highest if not the highest rate of teen pregnancies and one of the highest unemployment rates in the United States. By putting your head in the sand all you are doing is letting the problem propagate. Educate!

I thought Alabama was in the United States of America. The Ultra Conservatives that run this state should realize that a wine label is not the problem. Parents do not talk to their children about the realities of today's world. Sex, Drugs, Peer Pressure. Parents talk to your children! Don't just put them in front of the television or computer. 10 year old kids do not need cell phones. Get to know your kids friends and their families.

Children will start drinking at the age of 10 because one of their friends gets some beer from the fridge and dares them to drink it. If the parents have not discussed peer pressure and alcohol use with the kids then they can become alcoholics by the time they are 12. They can become addicted to drugs just as easily if not more easily.

I know that in today's economy both parents have to work a lot of the times to make ends meet. But when you are home, spend quality time with your children. Teach them the realities by making them work around the house, learning about finances, and discuss with them where they want to be in 1year/3years/5years/and how they see they can reach these goals. Children that have no goals have no future.

The fact that the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board has so much time on their hands that they can try to control Wine Labels maybe they should have some of their jobs cut so that other services won't be.

As for the person who complained to the board about the label.
"Take the stick out of your ass and quit trying to run everyones life. If you do not like the label then order another type of wine and don't look at the label." As an adult you should be ashamed that you think you have the right to dictate to other adults what they can look at. I bet you only read Playboy for the articles as a young man, right.

Well, that is my rant today. I will get off my soap box now but I just wanted to let you guys know how ridiculous this whole thing is in the scheme of things today.

Best Buddies International, Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Intellectual Disabilities, Opportunities

When I was young, many years ago, there was a young woman that lived near me that had an intellectual disability. I use to get very upset because the other kids would tease her. I found out that she was a gifted artist and we would talk for hours about her painting and what they meant to her. I felt bad that the other kids teased her and she said it did not matter because she had me as a friend. She passed away a few years later and to this day when I look at the picture she gave me I was so happy I was her friend.

I read a recent article written by Anthony K. Shriver to Dear Abby in reference to a young girl that had written in about wanting to help other students be more accepting of kids with special needs. I am copying most of the letter below because I feel more people should get involved with organizations such as this one.

"My name is Anthony Kennedy Shriver, and I am the founder of Best Buddies International, a non-profit dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment."

"I believe that friendship is the key to building the self-esteem essential to a happy and productive life, and that is why I started Best Buddies. In just two decades, Best Buddies has grown from one chapter to more than 1,400 chapters in 42 countries, Our six programs- Best Buddies Middle Schools, High Schools, Colleges, Citizens, e-Buddies and Jobs- positively impact more than 400, 000 individuals with and without intellectual disabilities annually."

"At Best Buddies, we envision a world where people with intellectual disabilities are recognized for their ABILITIES, embraced by society and valued in the workplace. Until that vision becomes a reality, we will continue to educate middle school, high school and college students; community members; corporations and employers about the emotional, functional and natural needs and abilities of people with intellectual disabilities."

I showed the story to my niece and she was very impressed and went to Best Buddies.org

and has decided to start a chapter at her high school when school start back up . I told her I would help in any way I can.

It is important in today's society that children get involved in the community and realize that the world does not revolve around only themselves but everyone's lives are intertwined.

Best Buddies seems to be a Great Organization and I commend Mr. Shriver for starting it.

If you have children I recommend you talk with them and see if they would like to start a chapter at school. I wish there had been something like this around back when I knew Chris.

Most people with intellectual disabilites have so much happiness inside them just waiting for someone to take the first step to let it come out. They are creative, fun loving, caring, and wonderful people and can add so much to our lives.

go to BestBuddies.org and get more information

Thank you Mr. Shriver

Dancing-with-the-Stars, Good Luck Chuck, What a Shocker

What a Shocker Tuesday Night. Chuck got Booted, Oh No!

He and Julianna had improved so much I really thought they would make it to the final 3.

What happened to the Country Music Fans?

I hope Melissa is well enough to continue next week or the loss of Chuck and Julianne will be even sadder.

Dancing with the Stars, Has Ty's time come.

Has Ty's time come.

We are getting down to the last 6 couples and more injuries.

Mellisa and Tony could not perform because Mellisa's hurt ribs prevented it.
If the people do not carry them in the vote then Mellisa could be out.

Ty and Chelsie really gave it their all last night but he is still very stiff. But he did get a little hip action going.

Shawn and Mark were good but not as good as she needs to be at this point. She has really grown up right before our eyes though.

Gilles and Cheryl's Lindy got raves from the judges but I just think he is so great in the Latin and waltz that the Lindy is not his dance.

Chuck and Julianne have come a long way and I think he can make it to the final 3.

Lil' Kim and Derek will be in the final 2. She is a little Power House of energy.

Tonight the bottom 2 in my opinion will be Melissa (but she could get the sympathy vote) and Ty.

It is really sad because all the couples are Great!

Daniel Craig as James Bond, is not HOT!

I know a lot of people think Daniel Craig is Hot as the new James Bond but I do not know that it is so much they think he is hot or that they just like all the action and computer generated scenes.

I am a mid 50's woman that loves action movies and just watched "Quantum of Solace" and I was really disappointed. It was awful.

I know he was suppose to have just lost the love of his life, that turned on him but gave her life for him. But "COME ON". This man has no gentleness, smoothness, or feeling. He is cold. He has none of the CLASS! that James Bond should have.

The writers seem to only care about the action for the 18-25 age group or for the video game revenue for the same action. It seems to all be about the money.

Well, they need to recognize that the older age groups are the fan base for the Bond movies and if they keep going the way they are going they will lose this fan base.

Bond is all about "CLASS!". He may have to race the bad guys, even kill a lot of them. But they respect him! This new Bond is losing all my respect.

I believe the writers can come up with Class, elegance, action and adventure. Why don't they? Is it just about MONEY?

Lindsey Lohan, where does she go from here.

The New York Post today has a story talking about how Lindsey Lohan has rediscovered Men and is out partying all night. Will she burn out again.

Well, maybe she is bi-sexual. She does not have to be exclusively male or female oriented sexually. She may not be a lesbian.

Lindsey does not seem to have much of a home life. It appears her mother is trying to be her and her father does not fit in anywhere and only tries to control her.

I think that Lindsey is just trying to find someone who will accept her for herself and not for the Hollywood hype.

Her breakup with Samantha Romson could be the final blow to the fragile self image Lindsey has of herself.

Maybe she needs to leave Hollywood for good. Find herself. Forget Hollywood. Learn to like herself. Then learn to love herself. Make a new life for herself.

It is hard to find someone who loves YOU for YOU if you do not know who YOU are.

Lindsey, I wish you the best and Please do not try to please everyone else. Just find yourself.

Dancing with the Stars April 20th Show.

Who do you think should go next?

I was watching Dancing with the Stars last night and the competition is getting fierce.

Ty Murray and Chelsie Hightower put on a great dance and I thought the scores should have been higher for them. Ty really shows a lot of smooth moves when he gets to do the slow dances. Jewel should be proud of him. I wish we could have seen them competing against each other.

Gilles Marine and Cheryl Burke have got to be the leaders in this season. He has great extensions and is so sexy. All the women I know can't wait to see him dance.
Cheryl was concerned about his latin extensions but I do not think she had anything to worry about. He is Hot! even in the old swimsuit!

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani make such a cute couple and dance so well together.
The only thing I don't like is they keep putting the wrong makeup on her. Makes her look like a vampire. But she is a wonderful dancer.

Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska have the biggest hurdles to get over. As the judges have said, he is just such a big guy that he looks awkward when he dances. He does not present a smooth step. He may be the one to go tonight.

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas keep improving and considering she had to miss so much practice I thought she did great. Even in the group that she missed the practice complete.

Lil' Kim and Derek Hough were a little off last night and I think it was only because they were down playing to the judges. They just need to go for it.

Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough are quite a couple. They have developed into HOT! dancer together. If they are as hot off stage as on, Go Girl!

Lawrence and Ty (both would be missed) are my bottom two. But then you never know what the fans will do so be sure to watch tonight.

BO is HOT!! Madoff is NOT!!

BO is hot.

We had a dog named Bo and my husband was not sure how he felt about the Obama dog being named Bo.

Our Bo died a few years back and we felt like no one could take his place but I think the Obama puppy is so cute that I am not upset about sharing the name with them.

Many of us know that animals add to our emotional and spiritual well-being. Many studies have shown having a pet is good for our physical health also.

We hope the Obama’s will love their BO as much as we loved ours.

The following article shows some of the great benefits from being pet companions.

see the whole article here

Madoff is not.

The Manhattan courts have given investors the go head to go after Bernard Madoff’s personal property by forcing Madoff in to bankruptcy.

Victims of the massive fraud would benefit from a bankruptcy court’s “orderly and equitable administration of his individual estate,” the judge wrote.

The judge found that personal bankruptcy would be the best and only way to allow victims to go after “assets which are not the proceeds of his crime or forfeitable…property.”
